First Aid For Children & Infants.

Would you love to know the basic skills to save a life? This Basic First Aid course is ideally suited for those who wish to be able to deliver Basic First Aid to infants and Children. For those how to work within facilities which store Automated External Defibrillators, or simply those who work closely with children and wish to be able to respond confidently in an emergency situation. Whether you are expecting your first child or already have children, it is only natural to want to prepare yourself to deal with any emergencies which might arise. Our experienced trainers will give you the skills and confidence to administer first aid and various other life-saving techniques to children and Infants at home or within the workplace.

 

 

Course Objectives

To provide Learners with the skills and confidence to recognise and treat infants and children in an emergency situation, until the arrival of emergency services.

 

 

 

Course Content/Topics Covered

  • Accident scene management/Personal Safety

  • Activating the Emergency services (EMS)

  • Infection Prevention and control

  • Control of fractures

  • Wounds and bleeding  

  • Anaphylaxis (Epi-Pen demonstration)

  • Choking Child & Chocking Infant

  • Child & Infant C.P.R and A.E.D.

 

 

Duration:  

4.5 hours (depending on no. of participants attending) Smaller classes may require less time to complete the practical section of the course. 

Class size up to 12 people per 1 tutor ratio, training is delivered using both practical and theory based lessons.

Training Methodology

Our approach to training incorporates both practical and interactive learning, giving the participants the confidence and ability to put theory into practice and cope with real-life situations that may arise. 

 

Certification

Successful participants will be awarded a 2-year certificate of attendance in basic paediatric first aid from DTA.
