This First Aid Response refresher training is a 2 day course designed for those who have previously undertaken an Occupational First Aid course or a First Aid Responder (FAR) course and wishes to be re-certified for a further 2 years. It covers all required content in the First Aid Responder full course covering all of the occupational first-aid requirements for places of work as outlined by the Health and Safety Authority.
Participants will have a mixture of practical practice and DVD learning and will take part in role play and scenarios including Patient Assessments- Performing a FAST assessment, Rescue a Choking patient, Administration of aspirin for suspected Heart Attack, Treating Fractures and dislocations, Pulse reading, AED retrieval and use and many more class activities designed to reinforce learning and create a more realistic experience for learners.
Who is the course for:
There is a requirement under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 to have a sufficient number of First Aid Responders trained and deployed in the workplace. Participants will need to attend a refresher training course every 2 years to renew certification. This refresher course will provide student with a Pre-hospital Emergency care council certificate (PHECC) for a further 2 years.

Deal with life-threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions until the arrival of emergency medical services

Provide an adequate response for conditions not thought to be life-threatening but are necessary to prevent further harm before the emergency medical services arrive

Display the requisite personal skills including composure, competence and self-confidence while understanding their limitations.

Course Duration
2 days. Group of 8 people per 1 tutor ratio. Can be completed on consecutive days or over a number of weeks.
Assessment/Certification:
Continuous Assessment throughout the course – MCQ Questionnaire- PHECC Certificate in First Aid Response Refresher issued on successful completion of the course (valid for two years from the date of training).
