Patient Moving & Handling Training

Who should attend a Patient Moving & Handling Course?

Our Patient Moving and Handling course is designed anyone who currently works or aspires to work in an environment in which they will be required to move people manually or by the method of an automated device. This may include persons working in Healthcare, Nursing, Social care, Emergency medical services etc.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, Learners will be able to:

 

  • Describe what safe patient handling is and why it is important.

  • Explain how to perform a Risk Assessment.

  • List the Duties of Employers and Employees.

  • Describe the Anatomy of the Spine and Injuries we may incur due to incorrect lifting.

  • Assess using T.I.L.E.

  • List the 7 Principals of Safe moving and Handling.

  • Perform a number of practical manoeuvres and lifts safely.

 

Course Duration:

2.5-3 Hours. Based on a group of 12 people per 1 tutor ratio, training is delivered using both practical and theory based lessons. Smaller classes may require less time to complete the practical section of the course.

 

Assessment/Certification:

Continuous Assessment throughout the course –  DTA Certificate of attendance is issued on successful completion of the course (valid for two years from the date of training).

 

Our Instructors:

All our tutors are fully certified QQI & PHECC Registered Instructors and all come from Health & Safety backgrounds.

 

English is the language in which training is delivered. Please inform us in advance if you have any special requirements prior to attending.

Booking as an Individual: Please note that there is a requirement of 2 or more participants needed to perform the practical section of this course. Public courses may need to be re-scheduled on occasion if there are less than 2 participants attending the course.
